Photographing a newborn during their first few days of life is just precious. Babies change so much from the first few days. And within the first year they take leaps and bounds with their looks as well as their abilities. They don’t stay a newborn for long, so capturing those first few sleepy days is priceless.
The best time to photograph a newborn is within the first few weeks of birth. Most babies at that age are still squishy and can bend in all those cute little poses pretty easily. They also love to sleep and can be easily swayed back to dreamland to capture that perfect image. Scheduling your newborn session is actually best done prior to your due date. It may seem crazy because you may not deliver on that date at all, but its best to get it penciled in on the schedule. Believe me, when that baby makes their appearance in the world your schedule will change and fill up quickly.
Newborn sessions are one of my favorite sessions to photograph. And not just because I get to hang out with a brand spanking new little baby and get my fill of snuggles for the day, but because of the awe of it all. These adorable little babies just made such a journey to get here, and to know that their life has just started and their possibilities are endless is amazing. Give me a newborn to hang out with any day and I will just sit and daydream of their lives possibilities. Oh, and I would probably take a few photos too.
